 Dr. Jeffrey Jones is a dentist who decided to give up his practice and turn his full-time attention to fixing the nation's high school dropout rate. He hails from the Chicago area where President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan have risen to fame.

"Everyone's attention seems to be on the economy right now, but it's not just a one issue country anymore," says Dr. Jones. "The correlation is clear: The economy is driven by education and as President Obama said, the time for change is now."

Instead of waiting for someone else to take the lead, with the same passion he practiced dentistry, Dr. Jones has made it his mission to cure one of the nation's biggest ills.

Calling the nation's high school dropout rates 'officially pathetic,' Dr. Jones now has authored a book with the same title. 'Officially Pathetic' examines the rediculously high high school drop rates and offers solutions to bringing it into check.

Indianapolis has a high school dropout rate of 70%, Baltimore 65%. Seventeen major U.S. cities have high school dropout rates that exceed 65%.

"We are too good of a country for this to be true," says Dr. Jones, "Yet it is true."
